Mindfulness for Lawyers: A Tool For Protecting Clients’ Interests - Kay Glidden, Jeff Lapin, Beth Reynolds Lewis In 2012, Judge Alan Gold of the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida called for an “all-out revolution”: that mindfulness be incorporated into the legal community as a vehicle for restoring civility, decreasing stress, helping lawyers stay focused, and maintaining a strong legal community. It helps lawyers maintain a high level of professionalism and avoid malpractice by taking a mental step back from their stressful practices, gaining perspective, and developing healthy coping skills. Mindfulness practice can help lawyers avoid addictive behaviors, depression and incivility, and stay focused on dealing professionally and ethically with clients, other lawyers, and the courts. _______________________________________________
